Growing up through dance: from first steps to the K-Pop stage
How a child grows in dance from Mini Dance to Kids Commercial to K-Pop in Tampere. Personal attention, technique and a performance every semester.
One of my favorite things about teaching is watching a dancer grow.
Many of my dancers have been with me for years. They started small, with a few simple steps and a lot of giggles. Today they learn full choreographies, dance in formations and perform with confidence. That is not luck. It is a ladder, and every step has a purpose.
Step 1: Mini Dance, ages 3 to 6
Here dancing is play. Children learn rhythm, coordination and how to enjoy moving in a group. They also learn to listen, to wait for their turn and to be brave in front of others.
Step 2: Kids Commercial, ages 7 to 10
Now the choreography gets real. Dancers learn to remember longer routines, work with music and dance together as a team. This is where technique starts to matter.
Step 3: K-Pop Beginners and Intensive, ages 10 to 16
Teens take on real K-Pop choreography, adapted to their level. They polish details, practice stage presence and perform with confidence.
What stays the same on every step
- Personal attention. I find an approach to each dancer, notice mistakes kindly and explain how to fix them.
- Technique and health. We care about feet, back and posture, so dancing stays strong and safe.
- A performance every semester. A goal to work toward, and a moment to be proud of.
The best part is that a child does not have to leave their dance family to move up. They keep their teacher, their friends and the habit of growing.
If your child is ready for the first step, or the next one, Spring 2027 enrollment is open.
See you in class! Mariia
